Scheele
November 22, 1950 – August 18, 2025
William "Bill" Scheele of Fair Grove, Missouri, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 74 years. He was born November 22, 1950, in Marysville, Kansas; the son of Richard Scheele and his wife, Minnie (Zabel).
Bill received his education from the University of Kansas, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. On October 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Shirley (Schroepfer) in Krakow, Missouri, and they were blessed with two children. He was a devoted member of United Church of God. Bill was employed for 30-plus years as an archive specialist with the National Archives Record Center.
Bill was a lover of knowledge and enjoyed learning new things. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling and was known to take the scenic route whenever possible. He was often referred to as an astrophile, as his nightly walks were where he would study the stars and constellations. Bill loved sports, whether it was golf or his beloved Kansas City teams, the Chiefs, the Royals, and the Jayhawks. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, birds, flowers, and being in nature. Above all, Bill loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Minnie Scheele; and two siblings, Donald Scheele and Verda Porter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Scheele, of Fair Grove; two children, Crystal Brokering and husband Eric, of Fair Grove, and Bryan Scheele and wife Kara, of Tigard, Oregon; three grandchildren, Dustin Brokering, Ryan Brokering, and Ava Scheele; two siblings, Evelyn Baker, of Marysville, Kansas, and Robert Scheele, of Shawnee, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials in honor of Bill Scheele can be made to the United Church of God or a local food pantry of donors choice.
