Obituary

William Gray, 84, of St. Clair, passed away, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at his home in the comforting presence of his family.

On August 28, 1938, William was born to the union of Robert Gray and Julie (Day) in Trion, Georgia.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was united in marriage to Joan (Sullivan) on June 6, 1964, in Tiny Town, Tennessee.

William was a member of the Masons in St. Clair as well as the Odd Fellows in Sullivan.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time at home with his family when he wasn't on the green. William will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julie Gray; daughter, Sonja Tyree; two brothers, Robert Gray and Earl Gray; two sisters, Emily and Francis.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Gray of St. Clair; two sons, William Patrick Gray and wife Mabel of Texas and Jesse Gray and wife Alisha of Columbia; three grandchildren, Patrick Gray, Lily Gray and Kristin Tyree; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
