Obituary

Wayne S. Crowder, 93, of Union, passed away Saturday, September 1 st , 2018 in Washington.

Wayne was born September 12 th , 1924 in Rosebud to the union of Edward and Hattie Crowder.

Wayne would be baptized in the Catholic Church in Owensville.

He attended Renick School from grades 1-8 until he began working in the shoe factory at the age of 16 and would serve in the United States army from 1945-1947.

On May 24 th , 1947 Wayne was united in marriage to Hilda Schutt in Hermann.

He worked as a shoe trimmer for different shoe factories for over 57 years.

Wayne was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Union.

In Wayne's spare time he enjoyed working with cedar and creating pieces of almost anything from picture frames to hold his finished puzzles to a motorized car with a cedar shell to ride around in. He was always tinkering with something and had a talent for getting old clocks and sewing machines to work again. Wayne was very passionate about his yard and up until about a week before his passing was still going outside to tend to it. He also enjoyed working on tractors and even rebuilt some for his family members. He could also never pass up a good bargain at a yard sale. Most of all Wayne loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all his family very much.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Crowder; his parents, Edward and Hattie Crowder; three sons, Charles Crowder, Richard Crowder and Ralph Crowder; two brothers, Virgil Crowder and Ervin Crowder and two sisters, Fannie Bryant and Helen Filla.

Those who are left to remember Wayne are his two sons, David Crowder and wife Kathy of Nixa and Donald Crowder and wife Debra of Washington; one daughter-in-law, Carol Crowder of Michigan; four grandchildren, Becky Williams and husband Justin of Clever, Jenny Long and husband Rocky of West Plains, Michael Crowder of Nixa and Karen Dow and husband Chris of Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Charlie, Karissa, Addison, Madison and Jaden; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
