Obituary

Warren C. McClure, 86, of Union passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at his home surrounded by his wife, Laura A. McClure, and their three children.

Warren was born in 1934 to Joseph A McClure and Myrtle McClure nee Kirby; and grew up in northeast Arkansas.  He attended University of Arkansas and received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1956.  Immediately following graduation, Warren married his high school sweetheart, Laura Alice Hemby, and they soon moved to Union where Warren was employed by Ameren UE as an electrical engineer.  Warren retired from Ameren UE in 1995 as a District Superintendent.  Throughout his lifetime, Warren has been active in the community including the Jaycees and Rotary clubs.

He had a variety of hobbies including bee keeping, running and traveling.  Warren had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing in the church choir.   Warren's passion was educating others about the Creation vs. Evolution debate.  As an engineer and scientist, he felt others should hear about the arguments for creation so he actively participated in creation groups, was personally known to recognized scientific experts, and donated to many creation science causes; and he was a member of the Tri-County Association of Creation.

Warren and Laura joined the United Methodist Church in Union in 1957, and most recently they attended and supported the Restoring Hope Wesleyan Church in Washington.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle McClure; one brother, Joseph McClure Jr.; and his half-sister, Glenavie Little.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Laura McClure of Union; one son, Paul McClure and wife Jennifer of Union; two daughters, Mary Jo Eldridge and husband Mark of Texas and Ellen Harman and husband Jim of Union; his sister, Alyce McHaney and husband Tom of Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Joanna, Rachel, Megan, Collin, Lena, Deirdre, and Katherine; seven great grandchildren, Leola, Emma, Ava, Alora, Griffin, Brooklyn and Liliana; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial donations are appreciated to Answers in Genesis at PO Box 510, Hebron, KY 41048 or the Institute of Creation Research at P.O. Box 59029 Dallas, Texas 75229.
