Obituary

Wanda Kay (Powell) Baxter of Bourbon, MO passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 81 years.

Wanda received her education from Sullivan High School.  She was united in marriage to John Baxter on February 11, 1994, and the couple made their home in Bourbon.  She was employed at Precision Metals in Sullivan until her retirement. Wanda had a deep faith and was baptized Catholic the night before her passing.  She loved sewing and quilting and made a baby blanket for each of her grandchildren.  She was a big doll collector, enjoyed traveling, and adored Elvis Presley.  Wanda cherished the time spent with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Ruth Powell; one daughter, Tammy Casteel; one sister, Betty Nelson; one grandchild, Amanda Thompson; and one great-granddaughter, Sammy.

She is survived by her husband, John Baxter of Bourbon; five children: John K. Baxter and wife Tammy of Bland, Regina Ragan and husband Randy of Belle, Shelly Baxter of Belle, Scott Baxter and wife Nancy of Belle, and Kyle Baxter and husband Alan of St. Louis; twelve grandchildren: seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
