Velda M. Smreker (Taylor), 86, of Leslie, passed away, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at her home.

On September 19, 1935, Velda was born to the union of Waldo Taylor and Mary (Baggett) in St. Louis.

Velda was a former member of the Motor Maids of America.

She wore many hats and held a variety of different jobs over the years. Velda has done flower arranging, hair dressing, drove a dump truck, factory work, farm hand, as well as being a full-time mother.

In her younger years, Velda competed in motorcycle hill climbing. In her later years she enjoyed motorcycles and cars, painting and sketching. Most of all, Velda loved spending time with her loving family.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Mary Taylor; two brothers, Lee Taylor and Ralph Taylor.

She is survived by her two sons, William "Bill" Smreker II and wife Mary of Leslie and John Smreker and wife Linda of Leslie; one daughter, Theresa Montgomery of Washington; brother, Bill Taylor of Lonedell; two sisters, Mary Cole of Washington and Alice Worthing of Eureka; five grandchildren, Tara (Corey), Jamie, Kristi, Jake, Joe; eight great-grandchildren, Dominic, Cameron, C.J., Hailey, Bella, Jordan, Hannah and Hunter.
