Susie Elkins of St. Clair, Missouri, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 71 years. She was born February 20, 1954, in Owensboro, Kentucky; the daughter of Raymond Elkins and Frances (Greene) Sohn.

Susie received her education from St. Clair High School, graduating with the class of 1972. A devoted follower of Christ, Susie was previously a member of New Hope Baptist Church in St. Clair and a current member of Meramec Valley Baptist Church in Sullivan and Friendship Baptist Church in St. Clair.

She loved riding horses and was a member of the St. Clair Saddle Club. Susie also enjoyed going for walks and going to her grandchildren's sporting events. Family was the center of her life, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Elkins and Frances Sohn; two sisters, Alice Elkins and Cathy Hickinbotham; one granddaughter, Alyssa Cowsert; and one nephew, Nathaniel Johnson.

She is survived by four children, Brian Chitwood, Aaron Weirich and wife Ashley, Jesse Chitwood, and Jazmine Chitwood, all of St. Clair; four siblings, Deborah Johnson, of St. Clair, Donnie Elkins and wife Pauline, of Moselle, Stephen Elkins, of St. Clair, and Barbie Hoke and husband Mike, of Sullivan; nine grandchildren, Kristen Chitwood, Daniel Chitwood, Sierra Chitwood, Charlie Chitwood, Billy Cowsert, Mikayla (Steven) Ziegler, Jacob (Bekah) Weirich, Chloe Miner, and Zoe Miner; five great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Ava, Axel, Sadie Jo, and Russell; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
