Stephen "Steve" Michael Kunkel of Stanton, MO was born April 19, 1955 in St. Louis, MO; the son of Walter Kunkel and his wife, Dorothy (Skinner). Steve passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the age of 69 years.

Steve received his education from McClure High School in St. Louis, MO.  He was united in marriage to Yvonne Scanlon on June 12, 1982 in St. Louis and the couple was blessed with two daughters. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, drinking coffee, and watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies.  He liked listening to music and some of his favorites included Madonna, Lionel Ritchie, and REO Speedwagon.  He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching football. Steve was a massive jokester with a great sense of humor (and a little full of baloney), and you could usually find him flirting with the girls. He was a family man who loved spending time with his loved ones, and he will be dearly missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Kunkel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Yvonne Kunkel of Stanton; two daughters: Stacey Busse and ex-husband Greg of Stanton, and Sarah Grotha and husband Tim of Imperial; four grandchildren: Timothy Grotha Jr., Tyler Grotha, Skyler Busse, and Savannah Grotha; one brother, Robert Kunkel and wife Lina of Stanton; one sister, Jackie Lane and husband Pat of Stanton; "extra baby brother" Russ Maddox and wife Jane of Affton; and many other relatives and friends.
