Sherman "Terry" Atherton, 73 of St. Clair passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 in Fenton. Mr. Atherton, son of the late Robert Manuel Atherton and wife Rena Louise nee Thomasson was born August 24, 1940 in Utica, Kentucky. On June 24, 1978 he was united in marriage to Judy Swyers in Arnold. Terry worked as an Iron Worker for J.S. Alberici in St. Louis and was a member of the Iron Workers Local 518. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars or repairing anything. Mr. Atherton was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin "Buddy" Atherton and James Atherton and one sister, Gladys Brock. He is survived by his wife, Judy Atherton of St. Clair; one son, Sherman Kit Atherton and wife Amanda of Robertsville; two daughters, Tami Atherton and husband Steve Mesa of Pacific and Tricia Mills and husband Jim of St. Clair; one sister, Eloise Wolf and husband John of New Jersey; grandchildren, Stephanie Mesa, Tiffany Mesa, Melissa Mills, Noah Mills, Lexis Butler, Dominik Atherton and Tyson Atherton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
