Sara Belle Epperson, age 90, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in St. Clair, MO.
She was born July 9, 1934, the daughter of Emin Virl and Mildred Cornelius Smith, one of eight siblings.
Sara loved spending time with her family, camping and living on the river and the lake. She was a talented seamstress and quilter. She was also a member of the American Legion 347 Auxiliary where she enjoyed competitively playing shuffleboard. She worked in retail at Gambles Store, Berkels, and Hoff's Cleaners in St. Clair in her younger years. Then later in life, Sara was a full-time homemaker and spent time caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emin and Mildred Smith; her husband of 50 years, Frank Epperson; brothers: Jim, Frank, Richard, Donald, Harold, and Joe Smith; one sister, Mary Lou Laird, one grandson, Joseph Epperson, and one son-in-law, John Latham.
Sara is survived by four children: Cindy Latham, Steve Epperson, Kelly (Gary) Hill, all of St Clair, MO, Jeff (Jane) Epperson of Sullivan, MO; nine grandchildren, Holly (Brian) Downey, Derrick (Jennifer) Havin, Corrie Epperson, Cori Justus, Nick Hill, Jon (Kelsey) Rogers, Victoria (Taylor) Politte, Ethan (Tara) Epperson, and Emily Epperson; sixteen great-grandchildren, other family and friends.
