Sandra Volkerding Saler (Cook), 72, of Union passed away peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2018 at her home.
Sandra, daughter of the late Junior Cook and wife Doris (Bailey) was born February 2, 1946 in Marion, Kansas.
On August 5, 2003 she was united in marriage to James Saler in San Jose, CA.
Sandra was a Hair Stylist her whole life. During the 1980's she went out on her own to start Image Designs Beauty Salon in Union. She enjoyed her career and the joy of making her clients feel good about themselves. Sandra was quick to give advice to family and friends. In 2012 she retired from the business.
She had a talent for cooking, gardening for vegetables and growing flowers. She liked the outdoors, music, dancing and crafting. She was known for her great artistic abilities and her overwhelming love for her three sons!! She was simply the coolest mom of all time.
Sandra loved to worship and to be very involved in the church.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Doris Cook and one brother, Steven Cook.
She is survived by her husband, James Saler of Union; three sons, Chad Volkerding and wife Reagan of Overland Park, KS, Cale Volkerding and wife Jennifer of Washington and Shane Volkerding and wife Natalie of Kansas City, KS; four step-children, James Saler and wife Melissa of Pasa Robles, CA, David Saler of San Jose, CA, Jeff Saler and wife Lorena of Gilroy, CA and Greg Saler of Union; one brother, Grover Mayfield of Belle; two sisters, Rosie Keaney and husband Keith of Summerfield, MO and Lisa Mayfield of Belle; ten grandchildren, Savannah Volkerding, Abigail Volkerding, Addison Volkerding, Mikala Becker, Kayle Hawkinson, Adam Hawkinson, Jonathon Saler, Alexander Saler, Mark Volkerding and Matthew Volkerding; one great-grandson, Gabe Volkerding; other relatives and many friends.
