Ruth Schmelz nee Williams, 87 of Union passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 in Washington. Mrs. Schmelz, daughter of the late Clyde Williams and wife Bessie nee Catron was born July 21, 1925 in Union.

She received her schooling at Union High School, graduated Class of 1943.

Mrs. Schmelz was a member of The First Baptist Church of Union since 1931. Most would know her from playing the piano for the Sunday School Class.

On September 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Schmelz at the First Baptist Church, Union. She was a Homemaker and worked at St. John's Mercy as a Bookkeeper and Office Worker.

Mrs. Schmelz was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde and Bessie Williams; her step-mother, Vergie Williams; her husband, Robert Schmelz; daughter, Linda Lenau and granddaughter, Kelly Ann Schmelz.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Robert Schmelz and wife Julie of Florissant and Michael Leonard Schmelz and wife Pamela of Union; one sister, Marie Bartel of Columbia; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
