Ruby Jean Cahill nee Small, 78 of Union passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 in Ironton. Mrs. Cahill, daughter of the late James Small and wife Mary nee Shull was born December 13, 1934 in Jefferson City.

On September 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to Avery Cahill Jr. in Villa Ridge. After her retirement Avery and Ruby wintered in Texas doing Missions work.

For several years they were caretakers at the Franklin County Baptist Youth Retreat Center. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Union.

At the church she helped as a greeter and was head of the Kitchen Committee. She will be remembered fondly by her homemade donuts that were made at all gatherings.

Mrs. Cahill was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Avery Cahill Jr.; her son, Roger "Rocky" Cahill; two brothers, Lawrence Small and Leon Small and one sister, Dorothy Cram.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hill and husband Eric of Union and Denise Robinson and husband Dave of Florissant; two sons, Steve Cahill and wife Laura of Washington and Tim Cahill and wife Tracey of Union; three brothers, George Small and wife Rachael of Union, Robert Small of Union and Michael Small and wife Doris of Union; four sisters, Evelyn Small of Union, Virginia Marsch of Washington, Beverly Gentry of Union and Mary Ann Sammit of Owensville; daughter-in-law, Ruth Cahill of Union; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nieces; nephews other relatives and many friends.
