Ronald David Hofer of St. Clair, MO was born September 18, 1934, in Huron, SD; the son of David Hofer and his wife, Barbara (Waldner). Ron passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Ron received his education from Bridgewater High School in Bridgewater, SD., Sioux Falls Bible School in Sioux Falls, SD., Evangel University in Springfield, MO., and the University of South Dakota earning both his bachelor's and master's degree in education. He was united in marriage to Janet (Carlberg) on August 14, 1966, in Fremont, NE before the couple settled in Missouri. They owned and operated a hardware store for five years before Ron started his career as a teacher at Parkston High School in Parkston, SD. He retired from teaching in 1996 from St. Clair High School. He was a member of the St. Clair Lions Club, the Gideons International Union Camp, and St Clair Southern Baptist Church.
Ron was an avid reader, especially books on history, and enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his spare time. Ron had a deep love for the Lord and served as a deacon in church for most of his life. He was a kind man who enjoyed spending time with Janet, his family, and friends. He and Janet loved traveling together and their travels included visiting 49 states, Denmark, Sweden, and England.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, David and Barbara Hofer; one brother, Harold (Beverly) Hofer; one sister, Eileen (Wesley) Iverson; and one niece, Wanda Weflen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janet Hofer of St. Clair; nieces and nephews: Diane Freitag, David (Sharon) Iverson, Ruth (Larry) Olson, Daniel (Gina) Iverson, Marleen (Dennis) Rath, Paul Iverson, Philip Iverson, Mark (Tonya) Iverson, Barbara (Stan) Brower, Bob (Sheila) Hofer, and Carolyn Hofer; and many other relatives and friends.
