Robert Harold Sturgill, 84, of Washington, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021, at his home.

On April 14, 1937, Robert was born to the union of Woodrow Sturgill and Alice (Brooks) in Norton, Virginia.

Robert graduated high school from John I. Burton in 1955.

On May 4, 1956, Robert was united in marriage to Loretta "Kay" (Snodgrass) in St. Louis.

In his younger years, Robert pastored several churches.

Robert worked for Chrysler for 27 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed working puzzles, reading and finding treasures at garage sales. Most of all Robert loved spending time with his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Alice Sturgill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kay Sturgill of Washington; one son, Robert Kevin Sturgill and wife Madeline of Colorado; four daughters, Sherry Ziegler and husband Dave of Arizona, Kathy Niewald and husband Larry of Washington, Phyllis Martin and husband Ken of Springfield and Stephanie Weiss and husband Michael of Washington; one brother, Buford Sturgill and wife MaryAnn of Virginia; two sisters, Sheila Sturgill of Virginia and Carolyn Henson and husband Charles of Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, Natasha Bays and husband David of Springfield, Alicia Martin of Springfield, Ryan Ziegler and wife Brittany of Washington state, Jordan Ziegler of Arizona, Robert Kevin Sturgill Jr. and wife Katie of Colorado, Mariah Seigmiller of Colorado, Felicia Sturgill of Colorado, Zac Sturgill and wife Emily of Colorado, MiKayla Weiss of Washington, Austin Weiss of Springfield and Chloe Weiss of Washington; ten great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Robert and his family during this difficult time.
