Robert McCrain, 77, of Union, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

On April 15, 1944, Robert was born to the union of Mallory McCrain and Ruth (Russell) in St. Louis.

Robert was united in marriage, August 31, 1963, to Janet (Peterson) at Salem Lutheran Church in Affton.

For 25 years, Robert worked for the federal government as a mapper.

Robert very much enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Robert was also passionate about gardening and tending to his flowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallory and Ruth McCrain; one sister, RuthAnn McCrain.

Robert is survived by his wife of, 58 years, Janet McCrain of Union; two daughters, Robyn Ann Horton and husband Christiaan of Springfield  and Kelly Ann Holland and husband Scott of Sullivan; one sister, Karen Coleman and husband David of Farmington; six grandchildren, Julia Horton, Alec Horton, Paige Horton, Amanda Straatmann and husband Brad, Jacob Holland, Alexandrea Wehmeier and significant other Devin Hinch; one great-granddaughter, Lily Hinch; other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Union.
