Obituary

Richard H. Willis, a devoted father, loving husband, proud grandfather, and cherished brother, passed away on October 6, 2024, at his home in Warrenton, Missouri. He spent his life caring deeply for his loved ones and building a legacy of love, hard work, and generosity.

A true family man, Richard was a pillar of strength, always ensuring that his family was provided for and cared for. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, always making time to support them and showing them the love and loyalty that defined his character.

Professionally, Richard spent many years as an owner/operator truck driver under RW Express, a career that reflected both his dedication and his adventurous spirit. He took great pride in his work, enjoying the freedom of the open road and the opportunity to see the beauty of the country from behind the wheel. Whether cruising along scenic highways or driving through small towns, Richard relished the unique experiences his job afforded him. He loved sharing stories of his travels and took pride in the miles he logged, knowing he was providing for his family every step of the way.

Before embarking on his trucking career, Richard honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as a surveyor, where he exemplified duty and dedication. His service was a testament to his commitment to doing what was right and supporting others.

In his younger years, Richard was a standout athlete, excelling on the basketball court as a star player during high school. His competitive spirit and natural talent earned him admiration from his teammates and the local community.

Outside of work, Rich had a passion for motorcycles and attended races whenever he had the chance. His love for the open road extended to his bike, where he felt free and alive. Oh, and we can't forget his love for the Kansas City Chiefs! With a humongous heart, infectious sense of humor, and kind and generous nature, he was the type of person who could light up a room with his laughter and leave a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Willis, Sr. and Earline Willis (nee Hinkle); his sisters, Rosie Thomas and Blanche Hines; and brother, W. Willis, Jr. (Junie).

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Terrie A. Willis; his six children: Travis Willis, Staci Cochran (Jonathan), Tiffany Willis, Ashlee Chiles, Nicki Chiles, Stephanie Willis; three brothers: Edward Willis (Linda), Gregory Willis, Sr., Charles Willis, Sr.; seven sisters: Marion Cutts, Janetta Patton, Belinda Willis, Alzora Whittington, Mary Quinn, Tina Daniels, Lorie Jackson. He also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren, Havean, Coulton, Hailey, Arista, Montre, Brandon, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends who will forever cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to OATS Inc. which provides transportation for Missouri residents to help them live independently in their communities, a cause close to Richard's heart so that his legacy of care and generosity can live on through others.
