Richard Leon Short, 78 of Ballwin passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Chesterfield after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Mr. Short, son of the late Lloyd Short and wife Letha nee McCubbin was born January 2, 1935 in Leann, Missouri.

He served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.

Richard and Maxine recently celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Mr. Short worked as a Highway Patrolman in Springfield, Missouri until transferring to Troop C in Weldon Springs. Later he worked for Colonial Bread Company and transferred to Continental Baking Company where he retired. Mr. Short was a member of the Union, Local 688 and Life Gate Baptist Church in Ellisville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Short.

Mr. Short is survived by his wife Maxine Short nee Brawley; six children, Richard D., Dianna L, John J., Barbara E., Sally A. and Michael G.; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
