Richard Herschal Monday, 82, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, embraced in the love of his family. He was born April 9, 1944, in Casa, Arkansas, to Nathaniel James Monday and Violet Gertrude Caudell.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended trade school and worked as a mechanic in Skilled Trades for Chrysler, a career he was proud of.

Richard married Judy on April 18, 1966, and together they shared many wonderful years. They joyfully celebrated 60 years together this year. He was a member of Meramec Valley General Baptist Church in Pacific.

Richard enjoyed fishing, eating out, and traveling to Branson, Missouri. He especially enjoyed spending time with and traveling with his family to new places and was known as a loving ‘Pops’ who enjoyed sharing his knowledge and giving history lessons.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Monday of Villa Ridge; his children, Rich Monday of Villa Ridge; Lisa (Jeff) Weirich of Gray Summit; and Dana Brown of Manchester; his grandchildren, Samantha (Clinton) Niere of Union, Meagan (Rico) Jordan of St. Charles, Nate (Megan) Monday of Washington, Jenna Brown, and Olivia Monday; and five great-grandchildren, Aidan, Addison, Shepherd, Ezra, and Louis.

He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Coupal of Kennett, Missouri and sisters-in-law, Sarah Longino of Pensacola, Florida, Ola Jordan of Fenton, Missouri, Bess Young of Herculaneum, Missouri, and Karen Johnson (Frank) of Tyler, Texas.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Violet (Caudell) Monday; his brothers, Jim Monday and Donald Monday; and his sister, Frieda Clements.
