Ray Bert Benson, Jr., 57, of Owensville, passed away surrounded by his family at StoneBridge Senior Living in Owensville on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Ray was born to the union of Ray Bert Benson, Sr. and his wife, JoAnn (Westbrook)  in St. Louis on August 10, 1965. He was united in marriage to Heather Mitchell on August 1, 1998.  She preceded him in death in 2016.

He was known for his mechanical abilities, from sharing his talents with his friends and family, to designing and inventing new or improving almost anything mechanical.  He also shared his artistic abilities by designing original tattoos. Ray always enjoyed the outdoors, spending time deer hunting and fishing when he had the opportunity.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and giving everyone a hard time with great pleasure and happiness.  He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Heather Benson; his parents, Ray Benson and JoAnn White; two brothers, Daniel York and Robert Benson.

He is survived by three daughters, Tasha Ramos and husband Erik of Tennessee, Sierra Benson and fiancé' Chase Lauth of Leslie, Hillary Mitchell Warden and husband Ethan of Indiana;three sons, Tony Benson and wife Renee of Belle, William Benson of Belle, Bobby Shanks of Springfield; three sisters, Robin Collier of Ballwin, Donna Monier of Owensville, Regina Warren of Illinois; ; step-father, David White of Richwoods; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Lincoln, Finley, Magnolia, Eris, Ares, Remy, Aiden and Oakley, with grandson Orion expected in August; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
