Paul C. Phillips, 93, of St. Clair departed this life Monday, September 11, 2017 in St. Clair.
He was born May 19, 1924 to Edgar Phillips and wife Gertrude nee Deal in Guion, Arkansas.
On July 19, 1947, he was united in marriage to his first wife, Juanita Smith in Kentucky. On February 14, 1996, he was united in marriage to his second wife, Claudette Wishnask in Union.
Paul was honored to serve his country during World War II in the 65th Infantry Division Military Police from 1943 to Easter Sunday 1946.
Paul worked 39 years for Chrysler as a Pipefitter until his retirement in 1989. Member of Local 136 United Auto Workers. He was also a skilled woodworker. His friends and family will cherish all the pieces he made for them throughout the years.
As a young man, Paul accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He was currently a member of Oak Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Union where he loved the people of the congregation and you can see evidence of his woodworking skills throughout the church.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Gertrude Phillips; his wife of 49 years, Juanita Phillips; his daughter, Brenda Phillips and one sister, Ina Mae Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife Claudette Wishnask-Phillips of St. Clair; one son, Donald Phillips and wife Linda of St. Clair; two daughters, Linda Parks and husband Mike of St. Clair and Wanda Parsons and husband David of Union; adopted son, James Smith and wife Cara of Washington; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step children, Tamara Smith of Olathe, KS, Veronica Krolak and husband Dave of Union, Mark Wishnask and wife Mel of St. Clair, Andrea Reynolds and husband Merle of Collbran, Colorado, Tressa Neely and husband Mark of Jackson and Deanna Wirt and husband Mike of St. Clair; six step grandchildren; one step great-grandson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.Midlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens
