Patricia Alveria Whitmer (Bigley), 74, of St. Clair passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the home of her brother Roy Bigley in the tender care of his significant other Earlene Gumpenberger.
Pat, daughter of Woodrow Wesley Bigley and Elizabeth Alveria (Leuthauser) Bigley was born February 15, 1945 in St. Louis, MO.
She attended Duly Grade School in St. Clair and later attended St. Clair Catholic School through the eighth grade. In her youth she loved riding horses and playing softball. She started her driving career as a school bus driver for 8 years. She then became an over the road truck driver for 15 years until her health forced her to retire. In her later years she enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and camping. She loved her children, grand children and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joys were her Shih tzu dogs that kept her constant company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Elizabeth Bigley; her brother, Clarence Bigley; brother-in-law, Ray Hawkins and daughter Janet Johnson.
Ms. Whitmer is survived by her two sons, John Decker of St. Clair and Lloyd "Bobby" Johnson and wife Rebecca of Washington; one sister, Darlene Hawkins of Columbia, IL; one brother, Roy Bigley and significant other Earlene Gumpenberger; six grandchildren, Jennifer Bull and husband Ron, Mandy Bizzle, Lacey Steel and fiance Charles "Ryan" King, Dustin Bizzle and fiance Nikki Hendrickson, Kyle Johnson, Ronnie Dobsch and fiance Karen; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Malikai, Maleek, Hailie, Ashley, Ronnie, Connor, Josh, Trynyty, Tristan, Elijah, Stefano, Elizabeth, Caleb, Abigail, Landon, Daniel, Annelise, Allison, Dylan, Johnny, Kacey; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Patricia shared a special relationship with her cousin Karen Downey who was also her best friend.
The family appreciates the love and care given to Patricia at the end of her life by Earlene Gumpenberger. She was a true friend to Pat and is a valued member of our family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the family are preferred.
