Obituary

Orville Ray Mills, Sr., of Washington, MO passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 in Creve Coeur at the age of 85 years. He was born in Washington, MO on February 17, 1938; the son of Eugene and Edith (Baker) Mills.

He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #218, where he received the Legionnaire of the Year award in 2020. He loved the outdoors being an avid hunter and fisherman, especially enjoying trout fishing at Montauk State Park. He always looked forward to entertaining others at the pavilion at his lake. Orville owned and operated Orville Mills & Son Construction Company for many years. He was a generous person, having a kind heart and helping others who needed a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edith Mills; two wives: Nancy (Williams) Mills and Connie (Marsden) Mills; one son, Orville Mills, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Cindy (Griffen) Mills; one son-in-law, Craig Riegel; one brother, Eugene Mills II; and two sisters, Vernita Schneider and Betty Friend.

Orville is survived by his fiancée, Faith Davis of Washington; three daughters: Cindy Luelf and husband David of Washington, Michelle Riegel of Washington, and Melissa Reynolds and husband Jason of Washington; two sisters-in-law: Audrey Mills of Washington, and Sharon Heather and husband Joe of Washington; nine grandchildren: Jason Mills and wife Emily of Beaufort, Nicole Branscum and husband Kenny of Union, Jamie Hearst and husband Paul of Washington, Jeremy Luelf and wife Olivia of Washington, Nancy Riegel of Washington, Cory Riegel of Washington, Brittany Reynolds and Daniel Krampe of Union, Brooke Reynolds and Noah Bay of Washington, London Reising of Washington; thirteen great-grandchildren: Patrick Branscum, Aaron Branscum, Abby Mills, Weston Mills, Addison Hearst, Marcus Hearst, Everett Hearst, Evelyn Hearst, Hudson Luelf, Hayes Luelf, Rylan Riegel, Shealynn Riegel, and Dakota Krampe; and many other relatives and friends, who will all miss him dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023 at The American Legion Post #218, 1007 East Third Street, Washington, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will take place following the service until 8:00 PM.
