Nick Lurtz of Lonedell passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 39. He was born in St. Louis to Lance and Phebe (Kruse) Lurtz on May 25, 1986. On August 6, 2011, he was united in marriage in St. Clair to the love of his life, Syria Brown, and they were blessed with two daughters, Lacey Renae and Leah Marie.

Nick attended the Genesis Church in Eureka with his family and was a member of the Shop Fix Academy. Before becoming the owner of Oak Auto in Washington in 2024, he was employed as bridge supervisor for the Missouri Department of Transportation for fourteen years.

His passion was working in his shop, but he also enjoyed deer hunting, spending time on the river, camping, traveling, and riding ATVs. Nick was a family man, caring for his two wonderful daughters and wife, spending quality time with his many nieces, nephew, and friends, while never hesitating to help others when he was needed.

Nick is survived by his wife, Syria Lurtz, of Lonedell; daughters, Lacey Renae Lurtz and Leah Marie Lurtz, of the home; parents, Lance and Phebe Lurtz, of Florida; brother, Joshua Lurtz and wife Bobbi Jo, of Labadie; sister, Amy Mikel and husband Joshua, of Vichy; nieces, Bailey, Kailey, Mailey, and Hailey; nephew, Jared; other relatives and numerous friends.
