Nicholas Wayne Nowlin, 38, of San Diego, California, previously of Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 6, 2023, at UC San Diego Medical Center.

On May 20, 1984, Nicholas was born to the union of Verban Nowlin and Pamela Blackwell - Nowlin in Omaha, Nebraska.

Nicholas was a 2003 graduate from Pacific High School.

He loved playing baseball and rooting for his home team the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers when baseball season had come to an end.  Nicholas was also a proficient chess player. Most of all, Nicholas loved his children Seth and Zoe, his family and friends, and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Nicholas Wayne Nowlin was a son, a brother, a father, but most importantly, he was a sinner saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Nicholas became an organ donor at the age of 18. It was through this selfless act that Nicholas was able to give the gifts of life so that others may have a second chance. The precious gifts of life that Nicholas provided helped 4 individuals. A 42-year-old man received his liver, a 56-year-old woman (who had been on dialysis for 13 years), received his left kidney, a 69-year-old man received his heart and someone in southern California received his right kidney.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lula Nowlin; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Patricia Blackwell; and his father, Verban Nowlin.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela Nowlin of Sullivan; son, Seth Nowlin of Pacific, daughter, Zoe Nowlin of Pacific; brother, Dean Nowlin of Union; sister, Michelle Otten and husband Luke of New Haven; nieces, Morgan and Alivia Guehne of New Haven; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
