Obituary

Nellie Burks nee Gilmore, 83 of Union passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Washington. Mrs. Burks, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Gilmore Sr. and wife Nellie Edna nee Wigley was born August 23, 1931 in Mississippi. She was united in marriage to Jesse D. Burks in 1950. She was a dedicated Christian and faithful member of Rivers of Life Worship Center in St. Clair. Mrs. Burks was employed at Missouri Knife in St. Clair for 28 years until the factory closed in 2001. She went on to finish her working career at McDonalds in St. Clair were she retired. Mrs. Burks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse D. Burks Sr.; one son, Jesse D. Burks Jr.; two daughters, Donna Burks and Edna S. Treece; along with many brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons, Jim Burks of Alabama and Paul Burks of Union; three daughters, Lorraine Huntsman of St. Clair, Mary Patterson and husband Mark of Arkansas and Angela Fouchee and husband Kenny of Tennessee; one sister, Frankie Collins of Yazoo, MS; many grandchildren; many many great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
