Nancy Luella Landis (nee Harris) was born March 14, 1934 in Morristown, NJ; the daughter of James Harris and his wife, Elsie (nee Drahosh). Nancy passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at the age of 88 years. She moved to Wahalla, SC at the age of 13 years and received her education from the area. She graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC in 1955 and earned her master's degree in library science from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN in 1956. In 1957, Nancy was united in marriage to William Boughton in Wahalla, SC until William's passing in 2006. In 2012, she was united in marriage to Phil Landis in Kokomo, IN until Phil's passing in 2016. Nancy was happily employed as a librarian, as this was truly her calling in life, and she loved her work. She retired from Kokomo-Howard County Public Library in Indiana, after which she used her library skills to volunteer at church libraries and other volunteer libraries. While libraries were her passion, Nancy's faith was the foundation of her life.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elsie Harris; her first husband, William Boughton; her second husband, Phil Landis; and two siblings: Bob Harris and Lois Harris.
She is survived by her four children: Scott Boughton and wife Tina of Stone Mountain, GA, Ruth (Boughton) Lord of Union, Carol (Boughton) Ramirez and husband Ramiro of Kileen, TX, and David Boughton and wife Pam of Bonny Doon, CA; seven grandchildren: Brandon (Kathryn) Mills, Jessica (Scott) Sargent, Carol (Kevin) Boes, Rianna Ramirez, Tabetha Baynard, Nathen Baynard, and Sequoia Boughton; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Martha) Harris; sister-in-law, Jane Harris; five nieces and nephews, numerous in-laws; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Nancy Landis can be made to Our Father's Library (36 W. 2 nd Street Peru, IN 46970).
