Mildred I. Tiehes (Jenz), 86, of Catawissa, passed away after a short battle with leukemia on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at her home.
On February 1, 1936, Mildred was born in St. Louis to the union of Karl Jenz & Josephine (Briggs).
Mildred graduated from Ritenour Highschool in Overland.
On May 7, 1955, Mildred was united in marriage to Harold Tiehes at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Overland. To this union, three sons were born.
Mildred was a member of Cedar Hill Lutheran Church for nearly 40 years.
She worked in the fabrics and crafts department of Walmart for a number of years.
Mildred and Harold spent 11 years as Campground hosts which gave them the opportunity to visit multiple state parks.
She was an avid fisherwoman and loved going trout or catfishing but didn't have a preference as long as she could go. Along with being outdoors and fishing, naturally she loved to camp as well. Mildred was a talented seamstress. She was talented in many areas covering arts and crafts such as painting and ceramics. Mildred also had a sports side to her; she bowled in a league and carried a 200-bowling average. Most of all Mildred loved her family very much. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Karl & Josephine Jenz; parents-in-law, Mom & Dad Tiehes; two sisters, Gloria Randolph & Loralee Lawson; one grandson, Aaron Tiehes; one great-grandson, Caleb Ball.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Tiehes of Catawissa; three sons, Michael Tiehes & wife Ann of Arkansas, Mark Tiehes & wife Rachel of Lonedell and Doug Tiehes & wife Rhonda of Villa Ridge; seven grandchildren, Brian Tiehes, Crystal Bentz, Dawn Fritter, Matthew Tiehes, Stephanie Helton, Amy Ball & Bradly Tiehes; eighteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial donations are appreciated to the Cedar Hill Lutheran Church.
