Michael James Hinson, 63, of Villa Ridge, passed away at his home on Friday, November 18, 2022

Michael, son of James Hinson and his wife Bernadine (Straatmann), was born on June 12, 1959, in Washington, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Dawn Paparic, at St. John Gildehaus Catholic Church at Villa Ridge on October 17, 1981.

Michael was a member of Moose Lodge #1745 in Union and a member of Operating Engineers Local #513 for over 40 years.  He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and owner of Hinson Excavating.

He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, cherishing the time he spent fishing with his grandchildren in the family lake.

In his spare time, Michael enjoyed fishing, but had a passion for hunting.  He hunted in Canada and many parts of the United States, from the Rocky Mountain states to Florida.  His adventures included hunting for buffalo, black bear, elk, deer, caribou, mountain goats and alligators.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bernadine Hinson.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dawn Hinson; two daughters, Melissa Brennan and husband Christopher of Washington, Nicole Hinson of Union; two sisters, Sharon Witte and husband Don of Rosebud, Laurie Hinson of Fenton; two brothers, Dale Hinson and wife Jeannie of Union, Jim Thomas and wife Judy of Washington; three grandchildren, Ryan Brennan and wife Hannah of Union, Mara Brennan of Washington, Jack Fischer of St. Clair; aunts; nieces; nephews;and many friends.
