Maudie Marie Downey (Sohn) 86 of St. Clair, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2021, at her home.

On July 6, 1935, Maudie was born to the union of Fred Sohn and Nancy (Smith) in St. Clair.

She was united in marriage to Elmer Downey in St. Clair on August 30, 1952.

Maudie retired after 25 years from International Shoe Company in St. Clair.

She was wonderful mother and provider to her family. Maudie was a fantastic cook; blackberry cobbler was one of her signature dishes. Maudie enjoyed being outdoors, camping and picking berries. She also loved to go to yard sales. Most of all Maudie loved her family.

Maudie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nancy Sohn; two daughters, Carolyn DeClue and Paula Downey; all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her loving husband, Elmer of St. Clair; three sons, Edward Downey and wife Donna of Lonedell, William Downey and wife Elaine of St. Clair and Benjamin Downey of St. Clair; three daughters, Sharon Rice and husband Thomas of Cuba, Sandra Tyrey of St. Clair and Tina Downey of St. Clair; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
