Mary Alice Spence nee Brown, 80, of Eldon passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Spence, daughter of the late Clarence E. Brown Sr. and wife Frances Mae nee Abrams was born September 16, 1936 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

On October 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Archie A. "Buddy" Spence.

Mary was a wonderful hostess. She always made her guest feel at home. All her children's friends called her "Mom". She was a Den Mother, Boy Scout Leader, and Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered for many school functions. She loved taking care of her family.

Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Sr. and Frances Brown; her husband, Archie "Buddy" Spence; infant son, Stephen Spence; one brother, Clarence E. Brown Jr. and one sister, Daisy F. Oaks.

She is survived by three children, Joy K. Spence and husband Keven of Eldon, Herschel D. Spence and wife Robin of Union and Mary Jacobs and fiancé Scott Gullet' of Union; two brothers, Herschel L. Brown of Kentucky and Taber C. Brown of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
