Mary J. Roberts, of Villa Ridge, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on June 24, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on October 19, 1941, in Fairmont, Minnesota, Mary was the daughter of the late Durwood and Constance (Meyer) Hinton. She was united in marriage to Jerome C. Roberts on April 7, 1961, in Washington, D.C., and together they shared more than 65 years of love, devotion, and family.

Mary was a woman of strong Christian faith whose life reflected kindness, compassion, and dedication to those she loved. She worked as a secretary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for more than 20 years and also served as a secretary for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during her working years. No matter where life took her, her greatest joy was always her family.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Mary loved reading, tending to her flower gardens, caring for animals, and spending time outdoors. Above all else, she cherished time with her family and treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Durwood and Constance Hinton, and her twin brother, David Hinton, who passed away at birth.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerome Roberts of Villa Ridge, Missouri; her children, Michele Sondker (Carl) of St. Louis, Missouri, Cherlynn Boyer (Kenny) of De Soto, Missouri, Jay Roberts (Elizabeth) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jerry Roberts (Judy) of Ballwin, Missouri; her sister, Judy Wegner (Derrel) of Paducah, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, her body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that her love and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
