Obituary

Mary I. Johnson nee John, 71, of Eureka entered into rest August 17, 2020 in Creve Coeur.

Mary, daughter of Edward John Sr. and Elizabeth (Schaefer) was born September 10, 1948 in St. Louis.

On June 1, 1968 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Milton Johnson in Maplewood, sharing 52 years of marriage.

Mary worked in the administration field, most recently retiring from Environmental Restoration in December 2018.

Mary enjoyed attending events with her husband Ken for Shriner's Hospital as well as volunteering her time with the Eureka Historical Society. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but especially never missing a chance to spoil her grandkids!

Mary is survived by her husband, Kenneth Milton Johnson of Eureka; her children, Monica (David) Boyce of Ballwin, Kenny (D. Leann) Johnson of O'Fallon and Melanie (Paul) Svoboda of Eureka; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, D. Scott (Julie), Steven, Kari, Jordan, Kelli, Abigail, Joshua, Michael, Rachel and Anthony (A.J.); three great-grandchildren; siblings, Stephanie Mitura and Mary Ann Byrne; sisters-in-law, Amy John, Barbara John and Nina Mattingly; brothers-in-law, Charles Jacobs, Larry Johnson and Junior Terrill; her beloved support dog, Etzio; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward E. and Marie (Merideth) John Sr. and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Kowalchuk; father and mother-in-law, Harlen and Gladys Johnson; siblings, Carlotta Terrrill, Yvonne Jacobs, William John, Edward E. John Jr. and Kevin John; sister-in-law, Brenda Johnson.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, no formal services will be held at this time. A celebration of Mary's life and inurnment at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery will be held at a later date.
