Obituary

Mary Lou Huff of Lonedell, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, having reached the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 30 days, surrounded by her family.

Mary Lou was born on August 21, 1939, to John Merlin Munn and Wilma Mildred (nee Taylor) Munn in Polk County, Missouri, and was united in marriage to Melvin Huff on March 24, 1956. Four children came to bless this union: Karen Sue, Clayton, Michael, and Monica.

Throughout her life, Mary Lou's interactions with people could be summed up with one word: service. Her love for Jesus Christ was demonstrated by the way she reflected Him in blessing others through the skills she had been given, and she dedicated her life to her husband, children, home, and church in humble service to the Lord.

Her enjoyment of gardening, cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, and canning were just a few of the many home-oriented tasks she spent her time on. She and her husband, Melvin, worked together on many projects throughout their years of marriage, and upon his health decline, she committed herself to his loving care as well. She loved spending time with her family and invested many hours working alongside her children and grandchildren, imparting to them the skills she had learned. As a highly skilled seamstress, her family laughs fondly at the fact that she was just as adept at cutting firewood with a chainsaw as she was at overseeing a quilting or sewing project. Her care and organization of her home was modest and simple and exemplified a life of frugality, order, and hospitality.

She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member at Prospect Baptist Church. She spent many hours listening to sermons, studying her Bible at the kitchen table, and finding great delight in God's saving grace toward her. In later years, this deep, personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was made profoundly evident to the members of her Sunday School class when she would beseech the Lord before they would begin their study in God's Word.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; one brother, Larry Munn; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Wideman and Gerald Verner.

She is survived by her four children, Karen Jobe and husband Frank, Clayton Huff and wife Lisa, all of Lonedell, Mike Huff and wife Patricia, of Fulton, and Monica Siess and fiancé Keith Adams, of St. Clair; by one brother, John Munn and wife Ruth, of Owensville; three sisters, Wilma Wideman, of Union, Bonnie Wideman and husband Gene, of High Ridge, and Betty Verner, of Lufkin, Texas; by 11 grandchildren, Garrett Jobe and wife Mary, Andrea Dierker and husband Travis, Sadie Greever and husband Jeremiah, Maggie Raquet and husband Nathan, Gabe Huff and wife Ashley, Michaela Rich and husband Jacob, Solomon Huff, Mollie McDowell and husband Carter, Olivia Huff, Elijah Huff, and Noah Huff; by 14 great-grandchildren and one coming soon; by nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many loving friends.
