Obituary

Mark Anthony Powell, of St. Clair, passed away at his home in the presence of his loving family, on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 57.

Mark, son of Jack Powell and Diana (Jones) Powell, was born in Washington, Missouri on July 18, 1966.  He attended St. Clair High School and after his graduation he furthered his education at Southwest Missouri State University and East Central College.

He worked many jobs but spent most of his career as a salesman for local car dealers.  Mark was an avid outdoorsman and conservator of the land. He was a member of the St. Clair Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association and Missouri Conservation. Mark enjoyed hunting for deer, mushrooms, Indian artifacts, and fishing. Although he enjoyed the solitude of nature in every aspect, he was also a rock-n-roll music enthusiast, but most of all enjoyed the time spent with his sons, other family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Diana Powell; maternal grandparents, Tony and Doris Jones; sister-in-law, Angela Powell; uncle, George Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Friend) Powell of St. Clair; three sons, Evan Powell of St. Clair, Mason Powell of St. Clair, Brandon Hoerr of St. Clair; two brothers, Larry Powell of Union, Shawn Powell and wife Annie of Ohio; two sisters, Stacey Powell of Washington, Missy Powell of St. Clair; one granddaughter,  Lucy Yokum of Wildwood; nieces; nephews; other family; many friends and his four legged companion, Scrappy.
