Marcus "Mark" L. Rockhold, 76, of Union passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Washington after a short battle with lung cancer.

Mr. Rockhold, son of the late Merle Rockhold and wife Virginia (Haner) was born March 26, 1942 in Lineville, Iowa.

On August 13, 1977 he was united in marriage to Joyce Willer in New Haven.

Mark had a very enjoyable teaching career including thirty years at East Central College in Union.

He loved farming with his brother Lan part-time for many years and then later running his own farm outside Union.

In his spare time, he loved reading and watching Iowa Hawkeye football. As a dedicated Cubs fan, he was happy to see them win a World Series finally.

One project Mark was extremely proud of was researching his genealogy and writing a book about his Rockhold family history.

Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and cats Missy, Sparky, Rocky, Chloe, Bandit, Banshee, Orangie and Scotchie.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Virginia Rockhold.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Rockhold of Union:  two brothers, Alan Rockhold and wife Judy of Des Moines, IA and Curtis Rockhold and wife Linda of Trenton, MO; two brothers-in-law, Richard Willer and wife Jan of Affton, MO and Robert Willer  and wife Carolyn of  Unaka, NC; two sisters-in-law, Jane Wilding and husband Robert of Union, MO and Judy McGinnis and husband Robert of  York  Spring, PA; eight kitties that miss him very much; many nephews; many nieces; many great-nephews; many great nieces; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial donations to the Franklin County Humane Society or the Union Food Pantry are preferred.
