Luther Walter “Luke” McGowan, 77, of Robertsville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on July 21, 2026. Luke was born on July 27, 1948, in Highland, Illinois, to the late Harry Albert McGowan and Mildred Ruth (Ashcraft). He proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a career as a carpenter, a trade he enjoyed for many years.

On August 21, 1992, Luke married the love of his life, Pamela M. McDonald, in Edwardsville, Illinois. They shared many happy years together, and she survives him at their home in Robertsville.

Luke enjoyed spending his free time bass fishing, playing darts and horseshoes, following NASCAR, watching NFL football, and participating in a bowling league. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors, and the time he spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harry McGowan Jr.; and his sisters, Judy Tyler, Dixie Ann Hart, Velma Smith, Barbara Mathews and stepson, Cliff Cruse.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela McGowan of Robertsville, Missouri; his stepdaughter, Cheryl Cruse; and his sisters, Hazel McGowan, Ruth Mosley, Linda Lawrence, Zella Gwyn, Dona Balke, Anita Barnhardt, Virginia Young, June Webb, and Alice McGowan, along with other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at 10:15 a.m. for the 10:30 a.m. service.

Luke will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
