Lillian "Judy" Atherton nee Swyers, 67 of St. Clair passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in St. Clair. Mrs. Atherton, daughter of the late Ernest Swyers and wife Ruby nee Wright was born May 8, 1946 in Steelville, Missouri. On June 24, 1978 she was united in marriage to Sherman "Terry" Atherton in Arnold. Judy worked as a Cook with Chartwells at St. Clair R-13 school from 1994 to 2013. She was an avid fan of baseball and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in the outdoors. In her spare time she loved camping, boating, dancing and relaxing by planting flowers in her garden. As a dedicated hard worker she always gave a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Mrs. Atherton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman "Terry" Atherton and two brothers, Marion Swyers and Ernest R. Swyers. She is survived by one son, Sherman Kit Atherton and wife Amanda of Robertsville; two daughters, Tricia Mills and husband Jim of St. Clair and Tami Atherton and partner, Steve Mesa of Pacific; two sisters, Sonja Arnell of Dittmer and Janet Owens and husband Tom of Dittmer; grandchildren, Stephanie Mesa, Tiffany Mesa, Melissa Mills, Noah Mills, Lexis Butler, Dominik Atherton and Tyson Atherton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
