Obituary

Leonard John Berger of Sullivan, MO passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 56 years.  He was born in Washington, MO on September 7, 1968; the son of Raymond Berger and his wife, Marian (Griffin).

Leonard loved hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting.  He enjoyed working on the family farm when he could, and tractor pulls.  Leonard worked for Clark Street Café and Bakery in Sullivan. He was involved in Overcomers Life Recovery meetings (Sullivan and Union), was active in NA, AA, Celebrate Recovery, and was a big help in Spiritual Solutions Sober Living. He also volunteered his time at House of Hope Food Pantry regularly. Leonard professed his faith in Jesus and attended both House of Hope and The Ridge Church.  He was a kind man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marian Berger; and his wife, Kathy (McDaniel) Berger.

He is survived by three brothers: Kendall Berger and wife Marilyn of Union, Doug Berger of Rosebud, and Ray Bartle of St. Louis; three sisters: Margie Berger of Union, Brenda Ellison-Gavril of St. Charles, and Debra Bartle of St. Clair; two aunts: Susie Herbst and husband Tom of Union, and Virginia Burton of St. Clair; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
