Lee Oscar Thater, 84, of Union, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 in Washington.

Mr. Thater, son of Leo Thater and wife Hilda nee Offerjust was born May 10, 1933 in Washington.

Lee served his country in the United States Army, achieving rank of Sergeant and receiving an honorable discharge.

On May 4, 1957 he was united in marriage to Lois Copeland at Immaculate Conception Church in Union.

Lee was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Church in Union.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Hilda Thater; four brothers, Ralph Thater, Walter Thater, Roy Thater and John Thater; three sisters, Dorothy Thater, Ruth Thater and Verna Thater.

He is survived by his wife Lois Thater of Union; seven children, Lynette Tappmeyer and husband Steve of Owensville, Mark Thater and wife Terri of Union, Beth Boesel and fiancé Jeff Maune of Wright City, Barry Thater of Davidson, Michigan, Bradley Thater and wife Nancy of St. Clair, Stephanie Brown and husband Clint of Brooking, South Dakota and Roger Thater of Union; ten grandchildren, Andrea Talavera and husband Yasser, Chelsi Davis and husband Jake, Courtney Stone, Austin Thater, Morgan Boesel, Madison Boesel, Brennen Thater, Kyla Thater, Michelle Hadley and Ava Brown; three great-grandchildren, Colter Stone, Willow Thater and Lucy Hadley; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
