Kathy M. Mendenhall of Washington, MO passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at the age of 72 years.  She was born on December 10, 1950 in Washington, MO; the daughter of Bernard Groteweil and his wife, Angela (Bocklage).  Kathy received her education from Washington High School.  She was united in marriage to William Mendenhall on June 7, 1975 at St. Ignatius Church in Corcord Hill, MO.  Kathy enjoyed baking and watching WWE.  She was an exceptional softball pitcher and a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  She adored her grandchildren, and when babysitting them, took every opportunity to spoil them. The time Kathy cherished most was the time spent with her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Angela Groteweil; one brother, Michael Groteweil; and one brother-in-law, Marvin Heiman.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William Mendenhall of Washington; one son, Steve Lake and wife Judy of IA.; three daughters: Jodi Woosley of Washington, Angi Pettis of Union, and Kelli Mendenhall of Washington; one brother, Bob Groteweil and wife Monica of Union; four sisters: Dorothy Stachowski and husband Larry of Union, Marge Heiman of Union, Pat Wade of Union, and Josie Groteweil of GA.; nine grandchildren: Dakota Lake, Emma-Leigh (George) Doughty, Zachary (Brooke) Woosley, Kyle (Samantha) Woosley, Trevante (Rylee) Washington, Mariah (Gabe) Demaya, Ariel (Matt) Pettis, Jazzlyn Pettis, and Aiyla Pettis; four great-grandchildren: Tucker Doughty, Ruger Doughty, Lynx Washington, and Elias Hanshew, and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Kathy Mendenhall will be held at a later date.
