Josephine "Jo" Mary Benfield nee Chandler, 87 of Union passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 in St. Clair.

Mrs. Benfield, daughter of Marvin Chandler and wife Bertha nee Stahlman was born September 8, 1924 in Miami, Oklahoma.

On November 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to John Benfield in Washington, MO. She was member of the Presbyterian Church of Union.

She enjoyed bible study, vacation bible school, Sunday school, quilting, sewing, flowers, gardens and her retirement years.

Mrs. Benfield was preceded in death by her husband, John Benfield; infant son, James Benfield; her parents, Marvin and Bertha Chandler; three sisters, Hazel Jones, Ellen Terry and Marion Huff.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Doyle and husband Gary of Cuba, Jean Reeves and husband David of Bourbon and Sandra Thilenius and husband Mark of Union; one brother, Larry Chandler and wife Pat of New Port Richey, Florida, two sisters, June Chandler of Orange Park, Florida and Edith McKenzie and husband Jack of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kara Jean Bridgeman and husband Kevin of Cuba, David Reeves and wife Rochelle of Jefferson City, Jonna Jo Reeves of Olathe, Kansas, Kevin Doyle of Union and Christopher Doyle of Union; aunt, Gladys Friedman Orange Park, Florida; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
