Joseph Gable, 88 of St. Clair passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home. Mr. Gable, son of the late Jerome Gable and wife Clarice nee Lough was born April 18, 1926 in St. Clair. On January 17, 1946 he was united in marriage to Ilene Anderson in Pinckneyville, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Seaman receiving an honorable discharge in May 20, 1946. Mr. Gable worked as a Sign Painter at McDonald Douglas for 33 years. After his retirement he worked as an Oats Bus Driver in Franklin County for 10 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion and Elks Club all in St. Clair. Mr. Gable was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Clarice Gable and two brothers, Carl Gable and Elmer Gable. He is survived by his wife Ilene Gable of St. Clair; one son, Joseph N. Gable Jr. and wife Becky of Union; one daughter, Sandra Lee Marks and husband Chuck of St. Clair; one sister, Betty Wells of St. Clair; two grandchildren, Chris marks and wife Janis of Desoto and Josh Gable and wife Tanya of St. Clair; great-grandchildren, Cameron Gable, Taylor Gable, Stephanie Gable and Kevin Marks and wife Amanda; two great-great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Kyler; other relatives and many friends.
