John "Sam" Lanning, 56, of Owensville formerly of St. Louis passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Owensville.

Sam was born December 17, 1960 in St. Louis, son of the late John Lanning Sr. and wife Lupe nee Tinajero.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Lupe Lanning.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Gerloff of Owensville; one son, Brice Lanning; one daughter, Christina Gross and husband Brian of Byrnes Mill; one brother, Michael Lanning of Perryville; three sisters, Cathy Lanning of Fredericktown, Deborah Young of Palm Coast, FL and Ramona Bishop and husband Charlie; three grandchildren, Jordan Barr, Alyssa Barr and Taylor Kunkel; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
