John Lee Dickinson, 81, of Hermann, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at his home.

John, son of J. Wilson Dickinson and wife Bessie (Jones) was born July 19, 1941 in St. Clair.

On September 15, 1962, he was united in marriage to Jean (Martin) in St. Clair.

John was employed as a cable repairman for Southwestern Bell for 30 years until his retirement in 1991.  He was a member of the Union Masonic Lodge #593 for 56 plus years and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.  John and Jean loved to travel the country from coast to coast. As an avid farmer he raised livestock and grew hay on his own farm. He loved to tinker and was known to be able to fix anything. John also enjoyed going for rides on his classic Harley Davidson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, J. Wilson and Bessie Dickinson; and one brother, Richard Dickinson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Dickinson of Hermann; one son, John Dickinson and wife Lisa of Union; one daughter, Chelle Amptman and husband John of Gerald; four grandchildren, Blake Dickinson of Union, Jackson Dickinson of Union, Alexandra Carmichael and husband Reece of Lamoni, IA and Matthew Amptman of Union; one great-grandchild, Easton Carmichael; other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Union Masonic Lodge #593.
