Joe Tanner of Washington, MO was born July 30, 1956, in Pomona, CA; the son of David Leroy Tanner, Sr. and his wife, Frances (Wright). Joe passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 68 years after a courageous battle with ALS.
Joe was formerly employed as a police officer in Kansas City, MO. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, fishing and boating. The true love of Joe's life was music. He was a wonderful musician, and his talents ranged from singing to playing drums, harmonica, and guitar. Joe had a lot of love to give and had a wonderful sense of humor, right up to his last days. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Frances Tanner, Sr.; one brother, David Tanner, Jr.; and one sister, Karen Harrelson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Tanner of Washington; one son, Christopher Tanner and wife Chelsea of Rolla; three daughters: Amanda Saab of Rolla, Brooke Shea of Pacific, and Tiffany Shea of IN; nine grandchildren: Tristan (Shelby) Tanner, Nevaeh Green, Konnor Shea, Karson Shea, Jaidah Shea, Gavin Saab, Grayson Shea, Harlee Tanner, and Wyatt Tanner; one great-grandchild on the way; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials in honor of Joe Tanner can be made to the ALS Association (als.org).
