Obituary

Jerry Cecil Smith, 88, of Sullivan, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Tuesday,
December 20, 2022.

Jerry, son of Jasper and Dora (Honeycutt) Smith was born on July 23,1934 in China Grove, North
Carolina.

He was married to Bernice Shenk on February 23, 1953, in York, South Carolina, sharing 70
years together.

Jerry was a faithful servant and member of the Jehovah's Witnesses for over 80 years. His passion was
preaching and teaching Bible truths to others. He was a kind and caring person, with the patience of
Job, who loved his family dearly, making sure that he talked to his brother Bob daily.

He loved following the ACC basketball team stats wherever his travels took him. He was an electrician
by trade but also proved to be a pretty good carpenter as well.

Jerry and Bernice loved to travel. Together they visited over 40 of the US states and European countries
of England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland along with many other countries.
In addition to Missouri, Jerry and Bernice lived in the Bahamas, Mexico, New York, and Peru as
volunteers on international construction projects for Bible educational centers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Dora and sister Gaile Smith.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bernice Smith; one daughter, Rhonda Bruner, and husband Paul of St. Louis;
one brother Bob Smith and wife Francis or New Jersey; one sister, June Pascal of North Carolina; seven
grandchildren, Nicole Schuchmann of St. Louis, Sarah Doerr and husband Brett of St. Louis; Caroline
Giles and husband Carlos of St. Louis; Jordan Bruner and wife Michelle of Jefferson City; Charlotte
Purpura and husband Chad of Springfield, MO; Seth Bruner and wife May of Florida; Alexis Bruner of St.
Louis and eight great-grandchildren; special cousin, Doris Fulcher and husband Bill of North Carolina;
many nieces and nephews.
