Obituary

James T. Gillison, 82, of Washington, passed away, Monday, May 30, 2022, at his home in the presence of his loving family.

On April 27, 1940, James was born to the union of James D. Gillison and Helen (Robertson) in Coulterville, Illinois.

James was united in marriage to Sharon (Shamulus) on May 12, 1967, in Sparta, Illinois.

He was a lifelong carpenter working in the commercial field for Local 1839. James also spent time at Fruin-Colnon working in the powerplant division.

James was a member of the Word of Life Church of the Nazarene in Union.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. James has a small collection of treasures from his times going metal detecting. Most of all James loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. James will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Gillison; brother, David Gillison; sister, Barbara Wilson and her husband Walter; niece, Jessica Gerlach; nephew, Michael Vaughn.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Gillison of Washington; son, Todd Gillison and wife Laurie of Union; daughter, Jennifer Jamison and husband Al of Sullivan; two brothers, Lester Gillison of Illinois and Paul Gillison and wife Cindy of Indiana; two sisters, Sharon Vaughn of Houston, Missouri and Gerol Gerlach and husband Jeff of Illinois; four grandchildren, Kurtis Gillison, Hannah Gillison, Julie Gillison and Nora Gillison; three step-grandchildren, Melissa Wilson, Matthew Jamison and Eric Wilson.
