Henry Gene Jackson of Union, MO was born September 16, 1930, in Murfreesboro, AR; the son of Henry Jackson and his wife, Savana (Womack). Henry passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 94 years.
Henry received his education from Harding University in Harding, AR. earning his Master of Science Degree, majoring in education. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was united in marriage to Mae (Nelson) on November 9, 1956, in Panama City, FL., and four children blessed their union. For the first five years of Henry's teaching career, he was employed with the Union School District, before moving to the Jennings School District in St. Louis, where he remained until his retirement in 1985.
When you think about Henry, you think about sports. He loved being involved with his children's sports, coaching for many years Khoury League baseball, his sons football teams, and his daughter's softball team. He loved cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed reading. The time Henry cherished most was the time spent with his family and friends, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Savana Jackson; one brother, George (Perlie) Jackson; and two sisters: Ollie Luallen and Jessie (Otis) Gilmore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mae Jackson of Union; three sons: Kenny Jackson and significant other, Dallas Schuster of FL, Danny Jackson and wife Sylke of Beaufort, and Floyd Jackson and wife Chrissy of Union; one daughter, Julie Crump and husband Jeff of Villa Ridge; eleven grandchildren: Ashton Toler, Tyler Jackson, Tiffany (Brian) Grotewiel, Devin (Sarah) Jackson, Danyell (Matt) Brinker, Christal (Sammy) Parker, Britney (Chase) Milligan, Kaila (Frankie) Lane, Melissa (Toby) Madden, Justin (Melanie) Bowen, and Jason (Jess) Bowen; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorials in honor of Henry Jackson can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
