Helen Marie Marshall, 88, of Owensville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born on June 9, 1937, in Eugene, Missouri, to Leo and Lucille (Wright) Hager. She was raised on the family farm alongside her four siblings, where she developed the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that guided her throughout her life.
After graduating high school, Helen moved to Oxnard, California, where she worked as an escrow officer for Security First National Bank. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" Marshall in 1958. The couple later returned to Missouri, eventually building a home on 40 acres in Tuscumbia, Missouri.
Helen dedicated many years to the banking industry and office management, where she was known for her reliability and attention to detail.
She was a woman of deep faith and kindness, whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. Helen loved to cook for her family and celebrations. She found great joy in her church, spending time in scripture, sending thoughtful cards, and enjoying needlepoint. She was also active in her community, serving on the Miller County Ambulance Board, the Miller County Nursing Home Board, and with the Missouri Girl Scouts. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and enjoyed watching sports.
Helen will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who truly cherished her family.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, William "Bill" Marshall; her parents, Leo and Lucille (Wright) Hager; her sister, Hilda Stark; and her brother, Fred Hager.
Helen is survived by her two children, Julie (Rick) Dinsmore of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Greg (Lisa) Marshall of New Haven, Missouri; special foreign exchange student Elina Lahti; four grandchildren, Kyle Alderman (Mille), Meghan Marshall (Mark), Tori Weir (Brett), and Trevor Marshall (Jenny); and one great-grandchild, Ronan Davis Alderman, her brother Arthur Hager of Eugene, Missouri and her sister Barbara Helton of Eldon, Missouri along with many other relatives and friends.
